Today we continue “Looking at Questions in God’s Word.

These three questions. Job 38:4 (NLT2)  “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Luke 6:46-49 (NKJV) "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?” Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV) “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." It was great hearing from Missionaries Sam and Shelly Bowdoin and hearing about what God is doing in the Philippines and Asia. Thank the Lord we were able to help rebuild churches there. Also, what an honor to be challenged by our General Superintendent Doug Clay. We believe he is God’s man to lead us into greater things for the Kingdom and for missions. Let’s see what God is truly saying to His people.

1. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Job is trying to defend himself and he steps over some lines. Our nation was birthed with a great understanding that without the help and intervention of Almighty God we were doomed to destruction. Thomas Jefferson - "God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever..." I personally believe the mission of America and the mission of a Christian is that once you have found freedom and liberty, you should be willing to help others do the same.

2. But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? Here we see Jesus making a contrast between two different people. One person does what Jesus says to do and the other does his own thing. One person, through his obedience, assures himself of having a good and solid foundation. The other person, through their disobedience, assures himself of being on a foundation that is nothing more than shifting sand. So what are you saying, Pastor Rick? But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? Don’t call Jesus Lord and try to convince me how spiritual you are if you are not willing to send missionaries around the world.

3. Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Once Isaiah got a glimpse of Who God really was he went thru a process of repentance. So what is the result of this encounter and repentance. "Here am I! Send me."
